capjamesg Hello everyone! I have scheduled our next HWC Edinburgh for Tuesday 28th July: https://events.indieweb.org/2026/07/homebrew-website-club-edinburgh-XTwhzWL7rzi7. I am looking forward to seeing everyone!
Fran Enough time to prepare, I can do this! Also, anyone up for writing hour on Tue 30th, or 7th of July?
Fran On the schedule! https://indiewebforum.eu/d/71-hwc-edinburgh-writing-hour-tuesday-7-july https://events.indieweb.org/2026/07/homebrew-website-club-edinburgh-writing-hour-Nip6Ittfk9t1
Fran Thanks all for coming today, despite the pouring rain! ☔️ I only have disjointed notes out of today, so many topics! But here they are: Self-recharging bluetooth keyboards: maybe the physics don't make sense Blogging platforms out there: we mentioned Pagecord, made in Edinburgh, and micro.blog RSS.chat seems like an intriguing project, I'll have to read more 31 July is “Send a friend a webmention” day! There's a list of "slash pages" somewhere, but does it include /spam? Colin brought his website printed in A7 size Alistair was considering adding collectables, including 3d-printed ones that you can only collect in person Fran mentions ThreadVis as something that could expose connections between blog posts in his archive We grumbled about the complexity of webmentions, although the minimum implementation could be just a web form We grumbled about the complexity of microformats We grumbled about the inconsistencies of mastodon James once tried to store the AT Proto firehose (which today produces GB/s) to count emojis Colin has built his own activity pub implementation What's in progress: Colin: automating the print version of his website, looking into webmentiony things Alistair: blogpost in progress, but not a summer priority John: lots! Wrote a blogpost, then realised his website did not have a blog area; working on RSS, logo, exploring donation buttons to learn how they work, web tools page to put what he's learning about JS in practice James: trying to do more collaborative writing, including a project around poems; thinking about "what does it mean to have a website?" He might also change the name of the website, not the domain though! Fran: plotting ways to share bookmarks from his self-hosted Linkding to his website That's all I have, let me know what I've missed!
Indigofella @Fran - ah, I see your using Linkding, I recall you mentioning your bookmark management but didn't realise you were using Linkding. It's the same tool they've implemented on omg.lol. I couldn't remember name until I read it in your post. Here's the hosting service I mentioned in passing but couldn't recall their name. I think someone mentioned they were looking for cheap hosting? Perhap this might be helpful. https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/services/hosting
Indigofella Oh, and to answer the question "There's a list of "slash pages" somewhere, but does it include /spam?" It doesn't look like it exists... https://slashpages.net/
