Could be record attendance today? A contingent of 7 web-interest folks toda descended on the over-Christmassed city centre, and met for the last HWC Edinburgh of 2025. Loved seeing you all!
I only brought home one scrunched napkin, so I don't have all the URLs that were passed around. We saw a teletext version of James' website (even if James wasn't there! spooky web action at a distance), several stickers handed out (ownership, proud, accessibility, enjoy, and this — yes, a sticker for 'this'), and discussion that touched:
- indexing music and collections and images and a bit of everything
- different ways of self-hosting (from old laptop to Coolify, via GitHub pages)
- Colin added an email address as a way for people to respond to his blog posts, and immediately got a nice message!
- collecting, creating and filtering RSS feeds
- Bookmarking tools came up again, also as a way to share and discover content (mentioned https://pinboard.in/popular and https://idlewords.com)
- PHP as a language for user over developers
There's was definitely more, maybe the lucky ones who brought home post-its will share details!
For the rest, enjoy the holidays and see you in January 👋
